The original dining room and drawing room of Taypark House is the natural home for our cafe and restaurant. The rooms are south and west facing, and joined together via the original sliding panelled doors. Each room enjoys uninterrupted views across the botanical gardens and the shimmering River Tay beyond.
We've sympathetically restored these rooms to highlight their original features, whilst adding our own modern vintage twist. Hanging teapot lamps dangle from the ornate plaster ceiling, and a cluster chandelier with pretty patterned lampshades drapes from the central rose.
The walls, with original white marble fireplaces, have had feature wallpaper added to enhance their character. During the winter months, the fires roar to create an ambient atmosphere. The original oak herringbone flooring has been sanded back, and local artists' works hang from the picture rails.
We're passionate about good food and believe in supporting our local suppliers and using as much local produce as possible. All of our dishes, gourmet sandwiches and delicious home baking are made fresh on site daily by our experienced kitchen team, and we can even bake you your very own cake for those special occasions!
On busy days we also use our original oak panelled billiard room - replete with vaulted ceiling - as an extension to the cafe. However, this can also be hired out for private dining or events for up to 44 people, making it perfect for christenings, birthdays, anniversaries or intimate weddings.
Please note: we operate a walk-in service, which means there's no need to book a table.
